The ensemble music of our days is the focus of this concert. The road network of the United States of America inspired the Swiss-German Michael Pelzel to write a sound journey through spaces, people and buildings. Contrast, lively rhythm and surprise dominate Chiffre II, a work written in 1983 that evokes the music of Edgard Varèse. The concert ends with the long-awaited premiere in Portugal of a new work by the Artist in Residence, the German Enno Poppe, right after the world premiere at the Lucerne Festival.
